Can a babysitter be considered a guardian of a child?

The babysitter has know the family for more then a year...helps them out routinely on the weekends for more then 72 hours. I am just wondering, as when it comes to legality, guardianship etc, would a babysitter be granted the status for emergencies, other purposes?
