Can you get sick from changing your location?

I'm from northern virginia and I went to Cali for about a month, stayed at a pretty secluded town. I started feeling sick when i drove to san fran the day before my flight and am still pretty sick. I have runny nose, coughing / sore throat, sneezing. It's funny because 3 weeks before this trip I spent a week over there and this didn't happen. Could this be some kind of allergy? Last time I checked I was allergic to bluegr (not the music).
