What characteristics does someone have to possess to be considered an intellectual, in your opinion?

Isn't everything relative? This is an opinionated question, and I think an "intellectual" person is relative to your opinion. I don't like to typecast people, but I can tell the difference between a person who has extraordinary knowledge and one who doesn't.
